A Ready Writer

As a young believer I was anything but confident in my writing. I was a published poet through school competitions. I had won several local contests. That alone was a big deal considering that I was not a reader. Now, I am rather veracious, I love reading fantasy. The only book I read regularly at that point was the Bible. To believe in my writing though, was another matter altogether.
I remember running into a young lady who had accepted her writing ability with the same passion as I accepted my preaching gift. She was passionate about the written word and its ability to change and inspire hearts. She was a college student, and I was so impressed with her that I initiated a conversation on the subject, and she shared with me a scripture that served as a catalyst for her. I can’t remember her name, but the scripture has stayed with me.
“My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.”
Psalm 45:1 (NKJV)
From a grateful heart comes words that must be preserved. I used to access this ability in sermons alone. Then, I began to write blogs on social media which eventually turned into my first book, second book, third, and now I have 4. Two traditional inspirational works and two devotionals (All can be found in the books tab on my website. I feel the “itch to write again.
I am preparing to write another book to encourage others on their journey. My tongue is still a pen of a ready writer more than thirty years later. Only now, I add years of ministry and life experience to the words that come forth from me. I was in awe of the idea that my God could use someone who like me then and I am flabbergasted that He would use someone as broken as me now. Use me Lord, my tongue and pen are ready. Amen!
